Ignition Lock Trouble 2010 Touring GLS Auto
The ignition lock on my sister's 2010 Touring GLS (auto transmission) left her stranded not far from home yesterday. She reports that the (newer OE) key will not turn with the car parked on a flat surface. Steering wheel lock seems to be engaged, as they're not able to turn the wheels left/right completely. Both OE keys work fine in the driver door.
Luckily, they're close to an automotive locksmith who thinks they can repair the lock cylinder (rather than replace); we'll know more after the car is towed to the locksmith shop.
UPDATE: The locksmith found the lock cylinder to be worn out by the original 2010 key. Repaired cylinder and new key made for about $200. My sister tells me the ignition lock turns "like butter" now, better than new. Onward... --g
