Default Snap out panel in rear bumper

What is the snap out panel in the rear bumper for? It is on the right side above the muffler.

Picture? It's probably just a hole used to tie down the car during shipping.

I think you can see what he's referring to in one of the photos in my garage: https://www.hyundaiforum.com/forum/a...&pictureid=243.

I'm fairly certain that is just a cover for a hole in the metal structure of the bumper that is used to tie the car down during shipping.

that should be the cover for where the eye-screw attatches for when the vehicel is needed to be towed up onto a flatbed. more cars are using them, as they are designed to reduce the likelyhood of suspension damage due to improper tow proceedure.

please please please if you have one of these on you vehicle, read the owners manual about towing. locate this piece, and alert anyone that drives the vehicle as to its existence and use. it could cost you lots of money if it is not used (or used properly).

if it is not used, or used improperly, you run the risk of incurring damage that may go undetected for several weeks, months, or possibly even more than a year until either the damaged part fails, or is noticed due to problematic tire wear/improper alignment angles. at which point it will be impossible to determine exactly when the damage occured, and how. this means that nobody will be held responsible for the damage but you.

*before anyone chimes in with smartypants remarks about accident towing, that point is probably going to be moot, since the vehicle has already been damaged, ok?? the primary reason for this device is towing for breakdowns.

A towing hook! That makes sense. I took a look at the jack today and could not figure out where that piece went...
