Unhappy 06 santa fe no start

Hi all, im new here. and need some help!

A friend has a 2006 santa fe with 55K miles. at random, it will not start. it wil click once, loudly.

Battery is newer, tested by different stores. tested ok.

i looked at it for her, and the resting battery voltage is 12.4 shortly after driving a 1/2 hour home. when i tryed to start, lights dimmed and voltage went to 11.9.

i hit the key three or four times quickly and it turned over like some thing was sticking.

can any one suggest where to start.

Are the battery cables in good shape? Any corrosion? I start looking at those first. Checking the resistance of both the positive and negative cables.

battery cables look new. i am thinking starter solinoid or ignition switch. it runs fine other wise and can sometimes go a week without a problem.

sometimes, if you turn the key 3 or 4 times in a row it will "unstick" itsself and turn, but not always.

when it is stuck, the voltage drops to 11.9. checked it sitting, turned off, yesterday and read 12.56. so alternator and battery seem fine.

battery is new and has been tested by a few stores.

thanks for ht help!!
