2002 Santa Fe Break Light Dashboard
I need help. The last few mornings as I am driving the break light on the dashboard comes on. The emergency break is not on. I had the car in at the dealer the first day this happened and it is not the battery. Please help.
Just a little information to clarify: it's brake, not break. "Brake" means to stop; "break” means broken. This is a very common mistake people make.
Anyway, the brake light could mean a number of things. The most common is the parking brake is on. The other means there is a problem with the brake system.
It's very possible the little switch on the parking brake handle is misaligned and not turning off the light even when the handle is down.
Another possibility is that the master cylinder is low on brake fluid because of a leak or because the brakes are worn. If that's the case, the brakes need to be checked by a mechanic.
