Default Disable auto unlock?

Hi all,

Is there a way to force the driver's side door of a 2010 Santa Fe to stay locked when the car is running? It's been -25C here for a week (-13F) and I have to run my car or my kids will freeze! However my driver's side refuses to lock if the car is running. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable this auto unlock? I can't find anything about it in the manual.

Thanks!

If you did that, you would lock your keys in the car. That's what it's trying to protect you from doing.

What you need is an aftermarket remote start so you can start the car from inside the house.

On a side note...what you are doing is a waste of gas and not good for the engine. The engine warms up faster by driving it, not letting it idle and creating pollution. If your kids are cold, tell them to put on coats. They won't freeze in the 10 minutes it takes to warm the car by driving it.

Contact the local Hyundai service manager. 2009/2010 Sonatas have this feature and there were several programable options that the dealeship can change on these cars with the scantool, including disablement. Same may be true for this vintage Santa Fe.

Thank you very much ken99! I'll give the dealership a call.
