Default purge valve

Hi,

I have the famous problem with the filling up with gaz issue and the Hyundai Sant Fe won't start properly after filling it up with gaz.

I did change the purge valve behind the manifold and the problem was solved but after 1 week, the problem came back again.

What could be the real problem ?

Thanks

You need to clean out the charcoal canister and stop overfilling your tank.

Is the charcoal canister the same thing as the purge valve behind the manifold or it's another part ?

If not, where is it on a Santa Fe 2004, v6 2.7L ?

Thanks

Here's the nickel answer:

The charcoal canister is located in the back of the car near the gas tank. It holds gas vapor for the tank from getting into the atmosphere and polluting the air. The purge valve purges that vapor from the canister into the engine to burn it. When you overfill the gas tank (adding more fuel after it clicks off) you can get liquid fuel down the vent tubes and into the canister. That saturates the charcoal causes it to break apart into little pieces. Those pieces than block the vent tubes that damage the purge valve. You have to check the lines and get them cleared of any debris.

Read the thread I linked to more a more detailed description.

Took a look underneath of the Santa Fe... The vapor canister is actually attachment to the truck between the fuel tank and the floor of the truck. In order to access it, I would need to remove the fuel tank.

Is that right ?

I did find out how to do it. You need to remove both rear seats to unscrew 1 screw on each side. Then unscrew the bar that prevents you to remove the canister
