I have a 2000 v6 sonata that is having a hard time starting. It has a new battery and yet when I try to start it, it still cranks over for a few seconds before it will start. It has also started backfiring and seems like it has a miss when accelerating. Could this be the crankshaft or cam sensor?

 

How many miles? Was the timing belt ever changed? If so, when?

 

The car has 190,000 miles on it. I got it when it had 140,000 on it. Previous owner never said anything about changing the timing belt.

 

I'd get that looked at by a mechanic soon. The timing belt should be changed every 60,000 miles. Sounds like it may have slipped a tooth or two.
