2006 Sonata_ first oil change?
[size=2]Well I must say as a prevous Honda Accord owner, I will never go back to Honda. But the real question is, I was told by the dealership that you have to get the first oil change there because there is a second paper filter put on while the car is being made, and must be removed during the first oil change. (I think) the dealership said that the second filter was under the valve cover....Is this True? or are they trying to get an extra hundred bucks from me?
Yeah I thought it was a little stange too that it would come from the factory with an extra filter on it, that just needs to be taken off, maybe it could be a filter just during the breakin cycle but woulded the maintenace log say something about that, and if so then it should be in the contract that the dealership will pay for if to get removed. If anyone has heard of a second filter being ONLY on the 2006 Sonata V6, (I also have a 2006 Tuscon but it didnt come with the Second filter) please reply, because Im baffled in a discion to remove the valve cover to see it if one is really there.
I think that they use some sort of cartridge type filter for 3.3l v6
You can get them at the dealer but not at aftermarket
Although I found some on ebay
I'm not sure of the second filter

Just had my 07 SonetaSE oil changed. No mention of second filter, however
the first oil change was free. Was talking to the parts guy and was advised after
Hyundai sells 1,000,000 filters you'll be able to buy them from the auto parts stores??

As far as I can remember, on my first oil change it was done with no charge at my dealer... They even removed my second filter for free and they even told me that the factory has some extra Honda Accord performance parts that are installed with no specific function and removing some of them would not make a negative effect with auto processes in my car... I even reviewed my car's specs and I did not found anything about a second filter and the parts that my dealer told me about... Anyway, as long as it will not cause any malfunction on my car.. I'd rather not touch it... Good luck!!!
