Default 2011 Sonata Limited will not crank/start

I have a 2011 Sonata Limited that is only 3 months old. Never had a problem until yesterday. After lunch I returned to the car and it would not start. It would not even crank over. However, all the interior lights, dashboard lights, power windows and seats worked just fine. I did notice that the headlights and brake lights did not work. Pushing the push-button start acted just as if you did not put your foot on the brake pedal to start the engine. It just turned on the accessories.

I waited an hour for a tow and the driver tried to jump start the car. The first time he tried it still would not crank. The second time it started right up. I drove it directly to the dealership and it has remained there for the past 24 hours.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? Could it be a faulty or misadjusted brake pedal switch? How about a problem with the key fob?

Thanks!

I doubt it has anything to do with the key fob. Have you had any trouble shifting into P, R, N, or Dr?

It could be the brake pedal switch or it could be the switch at the shifter that makes sure you are in park or neutral.

Been a load of shifter frames replaced for that, more so on the early production..

PROBLEM RESOLVED!!!

In responsed to my first posting, the dealership found out that it was a faulty brake pedal switch. They replaced and adjusted the new switch and it is as good as new!

Keep this in mind if anyone else out there has a similar problem.

Thanks for your postings. Great forum!
