I just bought a 2012 Sonata Se navi and I am having a problem with getting my ipod touch with ios 5 recognized by the head unit. I have tried connecting it with 3 different aplle brand ipod cables and I always get a "media connection error." I also learned that you can't have a cd inserted and try to access the ipod by pressing the media button... you get the cd. I am at a loss. I tried resetting the ipod to no avail. I always get this same error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope this helps
I don't know if this is going to be any help. Check the operators manual that came with the Sonata. I did on my 2012 Sonata GLS and found the model and gereration numbers that were compatible with the 2012. I now have a Nano generation 8 which works correctly with the usb cable that came with the Nano. All of the functions work this way. They do not work with the "Hyundai" supplied cable.

Thanks. I just read the navigation manual and it does say that the Hyundai cable is need. Ordered from Amazon. I'll let you know.

The latest TSB for the 2012 audio systems in the Sonata and Veloster (11-BE-014.pdf) says to use the white USB adapter cable that came with the iPod. I think I would go back to the dealership to see if they would loan you the Hyundai cable to see if it works before purchasing it.

I can confirm that the 2012 Sonata Se with navigation works with the Hyundai iPod cable.

I'm glad it worked out. My Sonata does not have the nav system and works correctly with the USB cable and not with the Hyundai cable.
