Default Awful noise from speakers

Hi, I just registered on the forums, and I'm having a bit of a problem with the radio. I was driving on the highway yesterday, and about a little over two hours into my drive, my cd player started making this awful squealing noise, and virtually stopped playing the cd. If I turn it off, it makes the noise, but it's more of a powering down noise, and if I turn it back on, it makes the same sound, but like it's booting up. If I turn up the radio, I can hear that the cd is playing, but barely. Has anybody else had this problem? and if so, how can I fix it?

You can fix it by going out and buying an aftermarket CD player and replacing it, that's if your car is out of warranty. If you still have the 60/60 warranty, then by all means, see the dealer for a replacement.

This sounds bad and I'm not sure you can fix the CD portion of the head unit. You can try a hard reboot of the deck by disconnecting the ground cable to the battery for ~30 seconds and then reconnect the ground. At the very least, the head unit should spit out all the CDs in the head unit. This may solve you problem, but I agree with jsinton that a new head unit may be needed.

alright, luckily I have an extra cd player that I can put in. I'll try disconnecting it first though.
Thanks for the help guys.
