My ESC OFF light is on most of the time now. And it truly if OFF (found out last snowstorm!) Is it simply a sensor that needs to be replaced or something major? (2008 2.4L 4 cyl)

 

There could be a number of reasons for the ESC light to be on and the function to be out.
Check the brake fluid level. What color is the brake fluid in the reservoir? If it is black it's 11 years old.
What shape are the brakes in? Rotors, pads, calipers?
Do the wheel bearings have play?
Is there any dirt on the tome wheels and the sensors?
Are the sensors close enough to the tone wheels?

Don't you hate it when you have a simple question and you get a whole bunch of them for an answer? ;-)

 

I suspect I need new brake pads (at least) and I'm not sure about the brake fluid. Just need to get hubby out there to check these things out! Very helpful! Thanks!!!
