The Sonata owner's manual stipulates a maximum of 2,000 pounds on trailers equiped with brakes, and 1,000 pounds on trailers without brakes. Prefered tongue weight should be ~10% of loaded trailer weight, not to exceed 200 pounds in either case. Do not use a weight equalizing hitch (which is usually a standard recommendation on FWD cars).
