07 2.7 timing belt question
hello to all new to the forum
my stepson 07 tucson 2.7-v6 timing belt broke while on highway doing 65 mph then he crank it a few times thinking fuel pump.is this a interference engine.?? doing a quick search some sites say yes other say no
my thoughts were to put a belt on for testing purposes and see how it runs when started.?? will it be worth my time doing that.??
also in all worse case scenario how bad is it to take both heads off and have them fix

Hi, I had cylinder head problems on a 2005 Tucsun, decided to get the belt changed at the same time. The head was scammed and new gasket sourced, the fun started when renewing the timing belt, thank my lucky stars I got young Sam from up the road to do it.
Front off car and engine gearbox out. In situ there is absolutely no room to remove covers that have to come off. Once off the vehicle the belt was no problem, might be worth getting the heads off to check for any valve /piston damage which might have occurred when the belt went.
That way you would at least be knowing what you were dealing with.
Good luck with it.

Someone told me that all Hyundai engines are interference engines
Don't know if it is worth it to replace timing belt and hope for the best
Only taking off the heads to look at the piston and valves can answer that
Personally don't have the skill level to change heads and valves
However, my brother and I have swapped engines in an old Ford Mustang
With a lot of help from our friends, it was difficult but do-able
So happy the first time it fired up.
I wish you good luck.
Hope for the best
