Default washer not working

This might be the place to get some good advice. I have a 2002 xg350, it has a problem. Washer not working. Tested old pump by hooking up 12v but it did not operate. So I replaced it. Tested and still no washer action, when botton is pressed. The wiper work so I know fuse is good. I look at some schmatics and see the washer motor is tied to etacm and multi switch. Removed switch and check with a ohm meter to check pins which washer button is closed found none of pins to respond with the button being depressed. I also check power at the plug of the washer motor. Hot side is 12v ground side reads 4.5v. Is this normal? When I go across the reading is 7.5v, sounds like a volt drop, but could not find bulkhead connection. I need some help on this one, could it be the switch or a volt drop

Switch is bad. Voltage is leaking through it and toasting the motor. Test the motor again by jumpers off the battery. If motor tests good, try to jumper out the wires at the switch and see if it works. If it works that way, you know the multi switch is bad.

This is exactly the type of problem which leads to your car to commit spontaneous combustion. The thing will catch fire in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, and it's because of a cheap electrical part leaking voltage where it shouldn't and eventually causing a fire.

Low voltage readings like this usually mean a loose or corroded ground wire.

The bad ground makes sense as does a bad switch feeding back to pump. Checking grounds would be a free fix and would like to check it out first. Where in the car the grounds located? I was going to remove the plug that fits into the multi switch and see if the reading of 4.5v would still read on the ground side of the plug to pump motor. If I do still have this reading could there be something wrong with the ETAC back feeding itself? Thanks for some areas to look into.

Found it..... bad switch. found schematic on pin location and tested the switch again. Then test circuits by jumping them on plug. Everything worked...70 bucks for switch. Thanks again for some ideas to troubleshoot.
