2011 Hyundai Sonata SE Will Not Start--Hard Brake Pedal
I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE that will not start. The BRAKE pedal is hard and will not engage & I can not move the shifter. When I press the brake pedal and touch the start button the car will not start because the brake pedal is too hard.
1. AAA tested my battery, which is 6 months old, and it is perfect. All the lights work and the stereo & navigation work.
2. The batteries in my 2 key fobs are new and tested perfect.
3. In the center console, there is a slot that can be used it the key fob battery is weak or you have a defective key fob. My car does not start when I stick the key fob in the slot so it is not a bad key fob & I tried both key fobs and neither starts my car.
4. I put a small screwdriver in the automatic transmission shift lock and moved the shifter to neutral and the car will not start in neutral either.
People online say that there are issues with a bad brake pedal switch (Stop Lamp Switch ) that can cause issues starting the car. There is a way to start the car by pressing the starter button 1 time and going into accessory mode. Then you press the start button for 10 seconds and the car should start. When I do this, at 10 seconds, the car tries to start and then dies.
I can replace the brake pedal switch (Stop Lamp Switch ) for less than $20.00 but somebody told me that they do not think that it is the issue. My car only has 41K miles on the odometer and the Stop Lamp Switch Was Replaced 10 years ago when the car had 15k miles on the odometer. I was told that the hard brake pedal has nothing to do with a bad brake pedal switch (Stop Lamp Switch )
Has anybody had this issue and what part was replaced?
