Question 2011 Sonata GLS

I notice that the odometer goes from trip 1 to trip 2,but can't seem to figure out why this happens. In my 2004 Sonata, there was a reset button to change it back to zero if required, but I don't see anything on the dash on this vehicle(or am I missing something ?).The owners manual doesn't seem to explain this feature very well.

Just pressing and letting go of the button cycles through: odometer, trip 1, trip 2, back to odometer, etc. To reset a trip to zero, press the button until the trip you want to reset is displayed. Then press and hold the button until it resets.

But where is the button located?-On the 2004 it was between the speedometer and the tach dials.

My misunderstanding. I thought you were asking about the 2004 Sonata. The 2011 Sonata is different. It has 2 buttons; one says TRIP and one says RESET. Pressing the TRIP button cycles through the computer:
- Trip A
- Trip B
- Distance To Empty
- Average fuel consumption
- Instant fuel consumption
- Average speed
- Elapsed time
- ECO mode On/Off (if equipped)

The RESET button resets the display.

The buttons are located on the steering wheel. There are 2 different styles: one style has the buttons near the airbag near the 9-o'clock spoke (Location 1 in the pic below). The other style has the buttons between the spokes at the 3-o'clock and 4-o'clock positions (Location 2 in the pic below).

In the pic above, has the TRIP and RESET buttons are in Location 2.
