2014 Santa Fe key stuck in ignition
I went to take the key out of my car a few days ago and it seemed to be stuck. The car starts and turns off no problem, however the key won’t make that last turn to release and come out. When we bought the car it came with 2 keys. Thought maybe it was a key issue. Tried the other key we don’t use as often, seemed to release the less used key just fine..,until 2nd attempt. Now both keys seemed to get stuck after turning the car off. This has been going on for about 4 days. The steering wheel isn’t locked so I know it’s not from that being the case. The strange thing is the battery has obviously died 2 times and each time that the battery has died, the key comes right out. I’m definitely leaning towards an electrical issues. Anyone have any experience with this for this model car??
Maybe a problem with the transmission range selector, IIRC you normally can't lock the ignition, unless it's in park, Do you have an electronic gear indicator? does it say P while in park?
If that seems ok, maybe a little WD-40 in and around the lock may help.
