Hi Everyone,

Can anyone help.
My rear wiper on my i40 stopped working. I have taken the motor off and tested it with a 12 volt supply and the motor works fine. I have checked the supply lead to the motor and I get 12 volt engine off and 14 volts engine on but it will not drive the motor. Can anyone suggest why it will not work. do I need certain amperage to drive the motor. I'm totally baffled by it.

Your help is welcomed.

Regards

Sheppy

Hi Sheppy,
Since you did half the work already, how about trying the other half ? When you tested the motor how did you provide a good ground connection?
Are both available when the motor is in the installed position?
If you connect your negative lead to a good ground on the vehicle and touch the positive lead to the motor case/housing it should show no reading unless there is no ground path , what do you think about that?
Also , yes, if there is insufficient power available to the motor (maybe broken wire in the part that flexes when opening and closing the hatch) ,it can read 12 volts with only one strand of wire and yet not carry enough current to operate the motor.
