Cost of Thermostat Assembly for Sonata
Hi,
Apparently my 2015 Hyundai Sonata needs a thermostat assembly, and the repair place we took it to says the part is $693 plus $400 labor. Does that sound correct?

It's extortionate. rock auto has the complete housing for $150 (make sure you get the correct part for you, link is only an example) 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.4L L4 Thermostat Housing / Water Outlet | RockAuto
Normally it's only the small thermostat that fails, but when the plastic housing is removed it will usually crack and need replaced. Otherwise the thermostat itself is about $40
$400 labor also seems insane to me. Accessing the housing is 30 min or less, draining the coolant is 30 min. At most 1.5-2h job
