Default Must service work be done by Hyundai dealer?

Hi all,

We just bought a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, and other than the poor radio reception we like the car.

Question: Are we encouraged or required to use a Hyundai dealer for service? We have been going to a local garage for years and would just as soon continue with them. We bought the car (28K) at a used car dealership, and they indicated that we may need to have our car serviced by a Hyundai dealer for the remainer of the warranty to be in effect. I'm sure that Hyundai would prefer owners to use a Hyundai dealer for service, but is that a mandate?

No, you are not required to go to the dealer. However, be sure to do all the required maintenence and document all work done to the car to maintain your warranty.
