Default 2004 Tranny problems

I own a 2004 accent gs and it wont go into reverse. It acts like neutral. I was told I needed to have it rebuilt or replaced, but others have told me it could be something else: like the Transmission Control Module, or it might need a Tranny flush. Anybody else know of anything? Thanks

Has the trans fluid ever been changed? How many miles are on the car? I'd suggest having the computer scanned for any codes first.

OUCH! The trans fluid should be changed every 60,000 miles. Have you ever check the fluid? Is it full? What color is it? You may need a new trans or you may just need new fluid.

If you have him change the trans fluid, be sure he used ONLY SP-III transmission fluid. Any other will damage the transmission.

Is there a dipstick going to the transmission (usually colored red/orange, not yellow like the oil dipstick)? If so, check the fluid level. If it's black then chances are your tranny is shot and needs to be rebuilt/replaced. If by 200,000 you mean miles or KM? if it's KM, then converting it means it's about over 120000 miles, but Im not sure if accents are sold outside the US that use the metric system...
