Default '01 Accent Automatic Tranny Problems...

Hey folks! New guy here....

I've got (well, my wife's has) an '01 Accent GL 4-door with the automatic tranny. A couple weeks back it started shifting funny. It wouldn't shift into 3rd until almost redline, then it wouldn't down shift until almost at a stop, both times being pretty harsh shifts. This just started happening out of the blue. No indications of any problems and it wasn't a problem that gradually got worse as time went by. So, I finally got it to the dealer. They said the tranny threw 2 codes. 1 for the pulse generator ($33) and one for the kickdown switch ($38). They wanted $250 to put the parts in. I took the car back since the KD switch is on back order and the car was still driveable.

So..... they cleared the codes and off we went. For the past week, the car has driven fine. Like there was no trouble at all, nice and smooth. Until today, it's shifting harshly again and now I've got no reverse! I'm thinking its that damn KD switch. What do you think? Has this happend to anyone before?

I don't have a great deal of expertise with the auto tranny, but if the tech suggested the KD switch I would go along with that.
