Default Accent high oil usage 1G

On tickover, but not on acceleration etc. just sitting int raffic or idling waiting for the missus to come out of the shops! If i put my foot down to drive away, smoke comes out the back. Its fine when drivign along, dont smell it int he cabin etc. however, i bought some synthetic oil and it just burned all away - instead i now just buy cheap 20w-50 as i was losing a litre every other week id say.

mechanic said could be valve seals, tried wynns stop smoke but it just burnt away lol and had to fill up again.

im ont he 20w-50 and its a lot better but im concerned, id actually like to fix teh roblem if possible as this car was going to be a stop gap to another car, but after passing the mot and tax being 60 quid, credit crunch being what it is, i cant afford a new car by cash alone, so its staying, and being improved.

Advice?

Also, my electric mirrors jam, i have to guide them by hand, ive been told its a could of clips? looks liek the previous owner tried to look but ripped the door handle off instead as its wood screwed back on lol

I agree with the mechanic. It sounds like the valve guides/seals are going.

Hello,

Compression check would be ok, it will tell you if it is all cylinders or just one. Probably it's valve seals if it smokes that bad, but it could be a broken ring. You could try "high mileage" oil. Or maybe STP or Motor Honey. Anyway, do a compression check and report back here.
