swapping the 1.5 SOHC out to the 1.6 DOHC
i'm thinking about swapping my single 1.5L 2000 Accent motor out for the 01-03 accent DOHC engine. the reason is because the 1.5 is burning oil and i figure it's cheaper to replace the whole engine then rebuilding it. so the question is will the 01-03 accent DOHC engine fit directly into the 2000?
thanks for any feedbacks

How much oil is your 1.5 burning? Is it coming out of the exhaust? Can you smell it in the engine compartment, or the exhaust?
My 1.5L SOHC has 184,000 miles on it. It burns about 1/2 qt every 3,000 miles. At 128,000 miles I had to replace the valve cover gasket because it was dripping onto the exhaust manifold and giving a 'burnt oil' smell. It was a cheap, easy, do-it-yourself repair.
I guess my point is, make sure your 1.5 really needs to be swapped. I'm a big fan of the KISS principle (Keep It Simple ...) To me the added complexity of a DOHC engine isn't worth the few extra HP.
Good luck!
