I have a coupe fx year 2007, and something weird with the rear position light:
With ignition on, and headlight command set to off (headlight turned off), the rear left hand side position lights are off, but the right hand side are on (both two light bulbs).
When headlight switch is on or on auto, both left and right tail position lights are on (as expected), which means the bulbs are ok...
Break lights also work as expected whatever the headlight switch position.
But with headlight switch set to off, the right hand side position lights are always turned on...
Do you have an idea of the origin of the issue ? I assume it is not a fuse as the light properly work when headlight are on, so could it be a wiring problem at the
bulb level or in a "light control box" ?
Thanks a lot !
Hello,
We didn't really know since when this problem occurs, as we noticed it recently (someone told me).
But it turns out it was caused by a fuse! the "TAIL-RH" one, and now both position lights (right and left) are always on when ignition is on.
So that's very weird, the default behaviour seems to be position light always on after all, despite what I thought.
Caused by the fuse????
Doubtful. A fuse is just a current limiting device.
It sounds more like a stuck relay.
But, since I can not be there to see or test it ...
Don't know
Well, I'm perplex as you, but it's been several months since we noticed the light was'nt working and as soon as the fuse was replaced, it worked
It could be something else of course, but that's how it happened
Don't know if it was involved here or not, but some manufacturers will also fuse the ground circuit to certain components . Electrical can be mysterious sometimes when a circuit will find another path to ground when the designed one is absent.
