You wipe out the code when you disconnect the battery, so unless you get the cel again, you won't know what the code was. You don't need a book to read the code, there's plenty of places on the net to analyse codes. You say the car won't "crank". Do you mean the starter won't turn or the engine won't fire up? Why do you kids always type like you're texting?

The cheap thing to do is take it to Autozone. They'll scan it for free. Write down the code, and come back to this forum so we can help you. Knowing the code is the key.

okay just an update it been a while saved for my own obd reader, get this guys i took it to autozone they wouldnt pull a code for me, went to kragen bought one myself, and with the cel on it wouldnt show there is a problem, no codes or anything. my dad explains the problem as shutting off at a stop and today as starting the car pulling to reverese and it dies when stopping to switch to drive, so whats happeneing with the cel codes? im confused.

So what is the code? Did you try to read it again?

What was the reason Autozone wouldn't read your codes?

I'm confused too.

Join the website at hmaservice.com for repair manuals. It's the official site and has lots of info.

For ODB codes go to odb-codes.com.
