Default Help! I might have (almost) totaled my 07 Elantra

I am a new member. Hello to all.

Me and a friend were out late the other night and we hit a tree on the side of the road. I was traveling at about 35 mph and hit the tree square with the passenger side headlight. The impact slid the back end of the car around so that the car was sitting in the road sideways. Both airbags deployed. The impact forced the drivers side headlight to eject completely from the car. The tree pushed far back enough into the hood to break the wheel on that side. I have full coverage on the car but I fear that I may be in a situation where I get stuck with a car that was almost totaled but not quite. I'm not crazy about owning a car that was almost totaled. I would greatly appreciate some opinions on whether or not the vehicle is totaled and how best to deal with the insurance company.

Thank You

I'm fairly sure the car will be totaled. The value of the car is far less than the cost to repair it. Total it and move on.

I also suggest getting some driving lessons.

Some one will resurrect it from the dead.

My son drove his 04 squarely into a tree and pushed the motor against the firewall. I had a pro straighten out and replace part of the frame ($3000). Then I replaced the body panels and rad/cond/WS. Pulled the interior and installed new airbags. Learned how to paint and voila, looks new (really!). All for $4500.
