Default Loose Steering/Constant Correction - 2015 Elantra

Hi all - wondering if anyone else is having the same issue I am with my model and year. I've seen a few other threads about later models, but I have yet to really find anything about the 2015. I bought it in August, off-lease at 36,500 miles, as a certified pre-owned vehicle.

About a week ago I was driving about 65mph and noticed that the steering felt slightly different in that I had to keep correcting in order to stay centered in the lane. I thought it was just a windy day until the next day when I experienced the same issue, and felt physically fatigued after 30 minutes of driving. I have to keep slightly correcting it left, then right, then left, then right to stay centered in the lane, without ever actually getting the car going or staying completely straight. Also, if I just try to ignore my instinct to correct the problem and see what the car does, it will veer slightly to the left and then find its way all the way to the right side of the lane completely on its own (with me just resting my hands on the steering wheel).

I've looked into the tire pressure, the alignment feels perfect when I let go of the wheel and brake, and the car is only 2 years old so I'd be shocked if it were something like the tie-rods or ball joints. I'm wondering if the tires need to be balanced, rotated, or even replaced (although they should have just been balanced/mounted/aligned when I bought the car in August as part of the CPO/pre-purchase inspection, but who knows)?

Has anyone else experienced this issue, specifically with this year? Even if it wasn't the 2015 model and you noticed it in your Elantra, could you give me some insights into your experience with the problem and/or resolution?

thank you in advance!!!

Default Front right tie rod disconnects suddenly while driving

l own a 2010 Hyundai Elantra and my car was acting similar to the one described above .No looseness was noticed in the steering however at times the car would vear right slightly and other times left unless I constantly put input into the vehicle to correct it.Car was inspected about a year before the incident and nothing in the steering was noted. We now have motor vehicle inspections that last 2 years so it was half way through the inspection. Last nite my wife was driving the car and luckily it was on a low speed road clocked at 60kph max.Had it been on the highway things could have been much worse.Without warning the right front tie rod disconnected completely from the vehicle right at the ball socket and she lost control of the vehicle. She did manage to bring it to a stop on the opposite side of the road and was unharmed. The car suffered no damage as well even though the wheel had been forced to a full left turn lock .She had just come in off the highway when it happened.Had car towed back home where I will replace both left and right tie rod ends.So this can happen without warning or any indication other than perhaps car wandering a slight amount but steering will still feel tight and proper.Havent inspected why it came apart at the ball joint yet but will tomorrow. In my opinion it came apart far too quick without any real indication something was wrong.I have never seen a ball joint come apart like this before I have seen many that were very loose but still held together. Is this a design flaw I dont know but sharing this so people will know what may happen if you notice your car wandering even slightly even though the steering feels tight.

Might be a good idea if you were to report this to the , National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration
