changed tires at ~20,000

After new tires, alignment (they had to align rear wheels), and a first tire rotation, there are no problems or vibrations, all is smooth, even up to about 90mph.

Conclusion in my case, bad oem tire(s) only.

 

I recently bought a new 2009 Santa Fe Limited. I'm having a problem with a slight vabration around the 25 - 40 MPH (40 - 65 KM/H) range (city driving). It seems to me as if the car is vibrating because of how low the RPM's are at that speed. I'm not sure if the problem is related to the timing belt or transmission. I really don't want to deal with the dealership on this until I have an idea what it could be because they'll probably tell me that there's nothing wrong with the car. Any help would be appreciated? Thanks in advance.

 

I have 2007 Santa Fe LE (2WD) with 35K miles on it. I just relplace the tire and had them balaned. From day one I had this vibration problem doing 60-65MPH and everyone always pointed to the tire and impoper balancing. NOT buying this as I just puchased some new Yokohama Z rated tires and still have the problem.

- Constant Vibration in the front seats, you feal it thru your body at 65MPH
- Smoother the road, the more evident
- No Steering Wheel Shimmy or vibration
- You can put the car in nuetral doing 65MPH and you still feel the vibration

Is this an impoperly balanced Drive Shaft or a Bad Axel? Will Hyundai still warranty this as it did this from the first day I bought it. I always thought when I bought new tires it would fix my problem. Not the case

If you just bought new tires, I'm guessing they aren't balanced correctly. That or you have a bent wheel or need a 4-wheel alignment. We told you this back in 2009 and 2008 when you opened other threads on the same subject (now all merged into this one).

FYI, there is no "driveshaft". You have 2 "half-shafts".

 

How do they check for a bent rim? If I have the tires balanced again and they balance ok, the rim is ok right? I will also have a 4 wheel allignment done.

I am reading a few other people on this forum saying bad shaft or bad axel. That is why I am still wondering about this. Your thoughts? Thanks so much. -Randy

 

You check the runout on the wheel to see if its bent. However, if it's a large bend, you can see it with your eye. One of the 17" aluminum wheels on my wifes Kia Sedona was bent on the inside lip that was easily visible.
