Default How do you diagnose code for airbag light?

I have a 2005 Sonata. The airbag light came on and stays on. Without buying a Hi-Scan tool, how can I diagnose the error?

The dealer is not an option, so be creative!

Thanks,

Chazmo

The dealer is the only option. You need a dealer scan tool and you shouldn't be messing around with the air bag system unless you are trained to do so.

Almost 2 yr ago, and fella probably long gone..

No guessing with SRS,,, and listening to internet advisors could cost you a lot of money..

Get to dealer who has proper software to access the SRSCM, get the code, and let trained Hyundai tech service the SRS.

Hi, Haven't been around for a while. The dealer fixed it, but it came back on within a couple of weeks. They said that it was a connection under the front passenger seat. It's still on.

Same thing on 2002 Sonata. Dealer repaired 6 times. Still comes back after a few months. First three times under warranty. Now warranty is up and they want over$400 to fix.

the wire connection to the sensor under the seat (sometime seatbelt) sucks. i ducttaped mine together, light went off and stayed there. usually they say they want 1,400 for a new cushion. just jiggle the wires and see what happens. airbag systems are completely different than CEL's, no battery or OBDII scanner will turn the light off
