Default Elantra 2023: Overhead Light Doesn't Come On When Door Opens

Hi everyone, I have what I hope is a really simple question.

I have a 2023 Elantra that I got back in April. So, it’s still pretty new.

But I do not recall the overhead light ever coming on whenever I open the driver door.

What can I do to get the overhead light to come on whenever the driver or passenger door is opened?

Does the overhead light typically come on by default, or do I have to set something? If it is supposed to come on by default, then should I check for a blown fuse, or is there a setting I can enable?

Thank you! J. Danniel

Would suggest you check the fuse panel for,,,,,,possibly a missing fuse. There are times when a new vehicle is getting prepped, to prevent draining the battery while the doors are open, a tech will remove the fuse. If this is all that happened , all it could need is a fuse reinstalled. In your owner's manual should be a diagram of the fuse panel and which fuse is for courtesy lights.
.I would make sure it is in there and not blown too.
Some special functions can be disabled, but not sure if courtesy lighting is one of them.

Thank you for your response. I'm getting an oil change soon, so I'll ask them to take a look at it. They're more qualified to do it than I am.

Did you ever figure out what the cause of the issue was? Also, there is a rocker switch that indicates light on, on when doors open, or not at all on the overhead console. Not sure if you checked that.

Looking forward to an update from you. Thanks.
