Default Tuff Tranny?

Got a question about how tuff the transmission is. I got a 2011 ET SE with an automatic tranny. Well, I'm pretty careful with my cars and try not to abuse them but last night I was trying to pull into a parking space and I had it in reverse and while it was still rolling I put it into drive and of course the engine and transmission went thump/clunck . Pissed me off because I know I should have come to a complete stop before I put the car into another gear. But I had traffic in back of me and got in a hurry.
Anyway, are the transmissions pretty tuff or could I have caused some damage? The car drives fine and doesn't make any noise or anything. I'm just curious about how tuff the car is. I will be more careful. Love the car. I have two of 'em. Polar white SE and Quicksilver GLS.

I don't think you did any damage. You should be fine. And if not, that's what the 10Y/100K mile warranty is for.

Doesn't the transmission have an override that prevents it from engaging at speed?

In mine if I am reversing and throw it into drive, it doesn't actually change gears until the car has come to a stop.
