2011 Sonata multiple issues (but mostly push start)
Hello,
I have a 2011 Sonata SE (W/Nav) that is displaying issues I haven't seen before. I will put a list of the issues its displaying. the issues might be related (or they might not).
Preface: The sonata had been sitting for over a year (it was sitting under a tree at my grandmothers house). the battery was completely dead. I replaced the battery with a brand new one from Costco.
The issues are as follows:
1) the clock wont keep the right time. Since replacing the car battery, the clock time wont keep. i can adjust the time and it will stay accurate while the car is running. but when I come back the next morning, the time is wrong. I have checked the 15 amp radio fuse, it was fine
2) the cruise control is malfunctioning. the car wont downshift while in cruise control. As I'm going uphill, the car will try to keep the speed by giving more and more gas, but it refuses to downshift. the car will go slower and slower until the revs get too low and the cruise control disengages. the car will downshift normally when i put my foot on the pedal (it only refuses to downshift itself while in cruise control). also, while on flatter surfaces, the cruise control is able to maintain speed (because it can give enough gas in the gear to maintain that speed)
3) push button is wonky. I have to press the start button several times to start AND stop the car. it WILL start/stop, it just takes several presses sometimes. there have been two instances where the car started on the first press. i though it might be the key fob batteries. I replaced batteries in both fobs. i have tried holding the fob to the button, but it still took several presses. i tried putting the key in the center console slot, but it still took several presses. I have checked the brake switch. the switch is working normally.
4) PROBABLY UNRELATED (since this was happening before the car sat dead for a year). i think the clock spring and my radio is dying. ill press the buttons on the steering wheel or buttons on the radio itself and its kind of a mystery... i never know what will happen. I'll press the media button and I'll get the map. I'll press the next button on the steering wheel and it will change the mode. this problem is intermittent. one day it will display the issue, one day it wont.
Like I said at the start. these issues could or could not be related (its really hard to say when a car has been sitting dead for over a year)
There are no warning lights on the dash. I drove the car home 300 miles yesterday.
any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Before condemning any thing , it would be a good idea to check and clean all ground connections.
Don't be fooled by just looking at them . They can look good and still have a poor connection. Many systems operate on very low voltages and the slightest resistance from a poor connection can produce weird problems. You may need to remove a bolt or two to get behind the connection, but that is the ONLY way to be sure.
